Go shopping - Glasgow has more to offer to shoppers than anywhere outside London. Take a walk down Argyle Street, Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street and you'll be spoiled for choice. Alternatively visit on of the many shopping centres in the city centre such as Buchanan Galleries, The St. Enoch Centre and Princess Square. If you fancy a journey to the outskirts you could always visit Braehead (a water taxi operates between the city centre and Braehead during the summer) on the River Clyde or head eastwards to the newer Glasgow Fort Shopping Centre.
Visit a pub - There are a wide variety of pubs in Glasgow to suit all tastes. From trendy bars to the more traditional working mans pub Glasgow has it all. Spread all over the city you are sure to be close to one wherever you go.
Take in a show - You can enjoy all kinds of entertainment in Glasgow whether it's a play at the Citizens Theatre, a musical at the Kings Theatre, dance at The Theatre Royal and even variety is alive and well at The Pavilion Theatre. Whatever your taste is you are sure to find it in Glasgow.
Have a laugh - Glasgow has long been famous for the warmth and humour of its people and this is reflected in the number of comedy clubs of all sizes. See internationally and nationally renowned names alongside local comedians at Jongleurs and the more atmospheric Stand Comedy Club. Or why not visit one of the smaller, more intimate clubs such as The State Bar or Blackfriars. Visit in March and you may catch the popular Miller Glasgow International Comedy Festival, which has attracted such big names as Jack Dee, Harry Hill, Paul Merton and Al Murray amongst others.
Visit Loch Lomond - Take a journey of less than an hour from the busy centre of Glasgow and you can experience the tranquillity and stunning scenery of Loch Lomond. Lying on the boundary between Lowland and Highland Scotland the area is a blend of both rolling hills and magnificent mountains. And of course as well as this there is the Loch itself, peppered with almost 40 small islands. Perfect for a lazy afternoon lying on the easily accessible little beaches all around it or if you are more adventurous, you can try your hand at sailing or any of the water sports available.
Absorb the culture - You can find collections of art all over Glasgow. From the contemporary at the Gallery Of Modern Art right in the heart of the city, religious art at the St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, to an eclectic assortment of over 9,000 art objects on the outskirts of the city at the Burrell Collection, art lovers will be hard pressed to fit it all in on a short visit.
Take in the history - With 13 museums spread throughout the city you will have no trouble learning about Glasgow's colourful past. See what life was like at a Glasgow school between the Victorian era and the 1960s at Scotland Street School Museum, view the fossilised remains of a forest that stood around 330 million years ago at Fossil Grove or see the history of Glasgow's people from 1750 to the present day at The People's Palace. What's more, all 13 museums are free to enter so there is no excuse not to delve into the past that shaped the Glasgow we know today.
Admire the architecture - Some of the best sights to see in Glasgow are not necessarily right in front of you but above you! The city is littered with some fine buildings, inherited from Glasgow's mercantile past. Take a look around and above you when walking through the city centre for some unexpected architectural delights. There are also some more obvious sights to see, such as the Glasgow School of Art, House for an Art Lover, The Lighthouse, The City Chambers next to George Square and the stunning Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum.
Relax with a tea or coffee - At one of the many bars and cafes dotted all around Glasgow. Take a break from that hectic shopping trip or just sit back and watch the world go by, there are plenty of places you can go to unwind with a cup of tea or coffee. Or why not dine in the stunning recreation of the original 1904 designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh at The Willow Tea-rooms.
